Gowen Hall was originally named Condon Hall ; Named John T . Condon , a faculty member from 1899-1926 and the first Dean of Law School at the UW ; One of the Law School's first permanent buildings ; After 1973 , when the Law school moved out , the building was named Gowen Hall after Hebert H . Gowen , an Episcopalian minister , the first professor of Oriental studies (1909) ; Gowen Hall is currently occupied by the Department of Asian Literature and Political Science .
