Hand-colored illustrations . Printed on one side of leaf only , the printed pages facing each other . First and last pages pasted to wrappers . This copy is in publisher's printed decorated green wrappers . This story tells the misfortune that befalls a group of fowl friends when they think that the sky is falling . It warns of the dangers of overreacting , gossip , and misinformation . The illustration on p.7 shows Chicken Little , Hen Pen , Duck Luck , Goose Loose , and Turkey Lurkey telling Fox Lox that the sky is falling . The illustration on p . 8 shows Fox Lox , who has already killed Turkey Lurkey , killing Goose Loose , while the others wait outside his den to be eaten .
