Leon Harold Kaplan, the youngest child of Jacob Kaplan and Celia Sussman was born in Seattle in 1925 and grew up in Seattle's Madrona neighborhood attending Leschi and Garfield High School.
Leon met Gladyseen Elaine Miller in high school and they married in 1947 after Leon returned home from the WWII Japanese theater. Leaving the University of Washington to pursue his deep interest in music, he and Gladdy opened Broadway Music on Capitol Hill. A few years later he answered his father's call to help out at Kaplan Paper Co where he finished his career over 40 years later as President/CE
Leon died Sept. 10, 2009 survived by his wife and his kids, Marty, Nancy and Steve.
