Two men with dip nets are lifting fish from crates (male whitefish in one crate, females in another) into the tubs at the spawntaker's right. The pan of eggs is passed to the man at the extreme left, who 'washes them up' before they are put into the neighboring tubs for water hardening and removal to the hatchery.
